SAINT CRONAN, ABBOT
Cronan (Cronanus), abbot of the monastery of Roscrey in Ireland (according to Migne* at Cluain-Mic-Nois), was distinguished by the gift of miracles. He died about the year 640 at a very old age. He was buried at Roscrey and is venerated there as a patron. Some writers state that he was a bishop; according to the Bollandists*, however, he held only the priestly dignity.
