SAINT GOBOLDEUS, MARTYR

Saint Goboldeus (Gobuldeus) was a monk at Visa who lived in the 5th century. The Bollandists* list him in connection with Saint Mamilianus; at the same time they also mention Saint Nympha. Saint Goboldeus' life history somewhat resembles that of Saint Nympha.

On November 12, in the Elenchus* of the Bollandists, Saint Nympha is featured alongside Saints Eustatius, Proculus and Goboldeus.

The relics of Saint Goboldeus are kept in Rome together with the mortal remains of Saints Mamilianus, Asotius, Proculus and Nympha. They are venerated as martyrs; Palermo is referred to as their place of martyrdom. (Jul. IV. 349.)
