SAINT JULIAN, FIRST BISHOP OF LODI
Saint Julian (Julianus), the first bishop of Lodi, was - as the Bollandists* prove in detail - elevated to the episcopal chair of Lodi around the year 305 or 306, after the Diocletian persecution. He died about the year 324 at the age of 82. His successor was called Dionysius who, in turn, was succeeded by St Bassian.
No further details are known of Julianus, except that he lived a holy life and had been venerated at Lodi from time immemorial. After Lodi had been destroyed by the Milanese in 1158, his body was transferred (between the years 1167-1174) to the newly rebuilt Lodi by Emperor Frederick Barbarossa. There he is still venerated to this day, according to the Bollandists*.
