Saints celebrated on the 8th of May
SAINT MARTIN, ABBOT
The holy abbot Martin, a disciple of Saint Martin of Tours, initially lived at Marmoutier and Saintonge (Sanctonicum). He then built a monastery of which he became the first abbot. It probably flourished at the beginning of the fifth century. He may be listed elsewhere as a different saint of that name, although no such conjecture is expressed in Migne*. (But. El.)
St Martin the abbot is also commemorated on May 7, May 13, and December 7.
