SAINT PAPOLUS, BISHOP OF METZ 

According to tradition, Papolus (Pappolus) was the twenty-eighth bishop of Metz. The founder of the Abbey of St Symphorian, he is presented in the martyrology of this church with the title "saint". The holy bishop passed to his eternal reward around A.D. 600. Some sources list St Papolus on September 21.
