SAINT RAGNOBERT, BISHOP OF BAYEUX
Saint Ragnobert (Ragnobertus, Regnobertus) was the tenth bishop of Bayeux (Bajocum). He died around A.D. 650. At first, he was buried next to his ancestor, St Exuperius, but towards the end of the 9th century, his body was transferred to Varzy.
He is venerated at Bayeux on the first Sunday of September (which is listed as September 1). His deacon Zeno is mentioned together with him in the French Martyrology*. Apart from quite a few other churches, he is also said to have built the pilgrimage church of Our Lady of Delivrande. Relics of St Ragnobert were also kept at Corbeil, Besançon and Auxerre.
