SAINT SIGIBALD, BISHOP OF METZ
Saint Sigibald (Sigibaldus, Sigisbaldus) was the 36th bishop of Metz. In the Gall. Chr.* he is given the title "saint". Sigibald lived around A.D. 708; the monasteries St Avold and Neuweiler were founded by him. The Bollandists* state that Sigillator is not a variation of his name, but altogether another bishop of this See.
St Sigibald is also commemorated on October 26.
