ST RAGNULPH, MARTYR
Saint Ragnulph (Ranulphus, Rainulphus, Renon) is assumed to have been the father of St Hadulph (Hadulfus), Bishop of Arras and Cambrai.
About A.D. 700 he was killed at Thelus (Telodium) in the county of Artois (Pas de Calais). Who committed the murder and their motives are not known.
His body initially rested in the church at Thelus, where the trough-like stone coffin of the saint is still shown behind the high altar, but his relics have since been transferred to the monastery of St Vaast near Arras. There they were solemnly exposed for veneration on February 12, 1188 . At Ardres his festival is celebrated on November 9. His name is listed in the Roman Martyrology. He is also commemorated on May 27.
