WOLFGANG SANDIZELLER, RELIGIOUS
(Wolfgangus et Eva). The venerable Wolfgang Sandizeller was a Bridgettine monk at Altomünster who received the honorary title "the most God-fearing brother" (religiosissimus frater), which was inscribed on his picture kept in the monastery:
When Duke George of Bavaria had the dilapidated monastery rebuilt in 1494, Wolfgang Sandizeller received the appointment for the management of the same, and was among the first brothers who moved into the building on January 21, 1497. With him came his wife Eva; she allowed herself to be admitted to the female section of the house with fifteen other sisters, and died on March 21, 1503 in the odour of sanctity. The pious husband followed her into eternity on April 18, 1525. He was found dead on bent knees and with raised hands in front of the Blessed Sacrament which he had adored while dying. (Frisingia Sacra.)
