BLESSED GERANNUS, BISHOP OF AUXERRE
Blessed Gerannus, Bishop of Auxerre (Antissiodorum), was born at Soissons. His father's name was Otardus, and his mother was called Guia. Early on he was accepted into the cathedral chapter of his native city, and in his student years he devoted himself chiefly to singing and history. Alongside this he practiced every kind of work of Christian charity and mercy. Also as bishop of Soissons he made a name for himself by faithful care for his flock. He died in A.D. 914. His body was transferred to Auxerre. His veneration is unquestionable, although it is by no means distinguished by high antiquity. Incidentally, he does not seem to be listed in Migne*.
