Saints celebrated on the 25th of June
BURKHARD, ABBOT
Burkhard (Burcardus) was the first abbot of the Mallersdorf Abbey in Lower Bavaria. He came from the family of the Barons von Wildenfels and was first a monk in the Michelfeld Abbey (Kloster Michelfeld) in the bishopric of Bamberg. He had the gift of prophecy and died in A.D. 1122. In the Latin inscriptions of his monastery he is called "saint" and "blessed Burkhard", which is why our source gives him the title "blessed". Bucelin* mentions that his festival is celebrated on October 14. (Buc. Suppl.)
