Saints celebrated on the 27th of July
HUGH I., ARCHBISHOP OF BESANÇON
Hugh (Hugo), the first bishop of that name in Besançon, who, according to the Bollandists*, died in A.D. 1070. Zedler* places this Hugh between the years 1031-1067 as the 48th bishop there, and calls him "Saint Hugh". Archbishop Hugo I was also often given the suffix Salinarius because he restored the Church of Saint Anatolius in Salins (c. 1050).
Archbishop Hugh I. is also remembered on April 9 and August 7.
