JOHN, ABBOT OF GRANDMONT
John (Johannes) was a Cistercian monk at the monastery of Villers who, according to the Ann. Cist.*, became abbot of Grandmont in A.D. 1231. The Bollandists* call him abbot of Grandpré (Grandis prati) in the county of Namur. Chalemot* mentions him on January 9. Bucelin*, who calls him "blessed", says that John died in 1235. The Jesuit Bartholomew Fisen also mentions him in his Flor. Leod.*, but without the title "blessed."
