Saints celebrated on the 8th of July
MARIA SPINOSA, VIRGIN
Maria, called "the Thorny" (Spinosa), a Poor Clare sister in Spain, died blessed in God around A.D. 1510 at Alcandera (Alcantara?). At her funeral angels were said to have been singing, which is taken as proof of her great piety. Artur* mentions this holy virgin with the title "blessed"; the Bollandists* list her among the Praetermissi.
