SAINT GEORGE OF CHATEAUBRIAND, PRIEST AND RELIGIOUS
Saint George (Georgius), a monk at the once-famous monastery of Chateaubriant (Vabrae, Castrum Vabrense) on the Cher River (Dep. Loire Inférieure), probably lived in the 9th century. Nothing else is known of him other than that he was transferred here from Conches (Conchae), where he had entered religious life and had been ordained a priest. Apart from that, the Bollandists* provide only very general and unspecific details about him.
