SAINT PRIMIANUS, BISHOP OF ANCONA, MARTYR

Saint Primianus, a bishop of Ancona and martyr, was Greek by birth, but of neither the time nor the place of his death are known.

In A.D. 1370 his relics were rediscovered at the church of Saint Francis of Paula, which formerly bore his name. At that time an old lady with a reputation for piety claimed to have received a revelation that the saint had died as a martyr a thousand years earlier, perhaps in the persecution of Diocletian. On May 10, 1609, his holy mortal remains  transferred to a new tomb.
