ARNULPHUS, PROTOMARTYR OF THE BENEDICTINE ORDER - 29 JUNE

Arnulphus, an abbot of the monastery of Novalicia in the area of Turin, was captured and killed by the Longobards. This happened during their invasion of Gaul in 515. According to Bucelin*, who counts him among the "blessed," Abbot Arnulphus is the protomartyr of the Benedictine Order. (Buc.)
Arnulphus is also commemorated on September 21.
