Saints celebrated on the 13th of June
HUGH, ABBOT OF SAINT MEDARD
Hugh (Hugo), allegedly a son of Charlemagne, was sixth abbot of St Medard at Soissons and, according to Zedler* (XXIV. 1487) eleventh abbot at Novalesa in Piedmont. Although he is referred to as a "saint" in the chronicles of his monastery, his name has not found its way into any martyrology. Zedler* states that Hugh died in a skirmish between Charles the Bald and Pepin II of Aquitaine. His death occurred in 844 near Toulouse.
