Saints celebrated on the 4th of July
SAINTS FLAVIAN II. AND ELIAS, BISHOPS
Today, we also commemorate Saints Flavian II. and Elias. The Roman Martyrology states:
"The same day, the birthday of the Saints Flavian II., bishop of Antioch, and Elias, bishop of Jerusalem, who were driven into exile by the emperor Anastasius, in defense of the Council of Chalcedon, and went victoriously to God."
PRAYER:
Grant, we beseech you, almighty God, that the venerable feast of Saints Flavian and Elias may increase our devotion and promote our salvation. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
