ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JANUARY
Saints celebrated on the 15th of January
Blessed Angelus of Gualdo was a lay brother (conversus) of the Camaldolese Order and full of ardent love for Jesus. Although not very learned, he possessed the fullness of holy anointing. He died on January 15, 1324 and was miraculously glorified by God. |
Umbria, from which province he came and where he is venerated at the monastery of Validum, counts him among its patrons and owes it to his intercession that it was saved several times from the plague and conflagrations.
Buc. Suppl.* states his feast day as January 15. His name is found in the Roman Martyrology of the Camaldolese on February 14. Even though his surname Gualdo is not expressly mentioned in the latter source, we confidently assume that their entry refers to our Blessed, since it is stated there that he died on January 15. We do not know why his feast day is celebrated on February 14 in the Order of the Camaldolese; but it is probable that his elevation or a transmission is celebrated on this day.
