ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN AUGUST
Saints celebrated on the 21st August
Florus, a disciple of Abbot Saint Maurus, is mentioned in this saint's vita. Saint Maurus is commemorated on January 15.
Florus was previously first minister at the Frankish court and then co-founder of the monastery of Glanfeuil (Glandifolium) in Anion (later called Saint Maure-sur-Loire), in which he also took the religious habit and lived in all humility.
According to Lechner*, Florus died in A.D. 558, but seems never to have enjoyed public veneration in the church. Bucelin*, however, in his supplements, calls Florus "blessed" and states 547 as the year of his death. (IV. 397)
