GERARD, MONK OF CLAIRVAUX

Gerard (Gerardus), a disciple of Saint Bernard, is mentioned among the Praetermissi by the  Bollandists*, as his veneration is uncertain. He was a monk at Clairvaux. Henriquez's Cistercian Menologium* and Bucelin's Benedictine Menologium* refer to him as "Blessed Bernard." He is listed in the Gallian Martyrology* with the title "of pious remembrance." (I.359)
