HELIAS, ABBOT OF SAINT PANTALEON AND SAINT MARTIN

A page of one of Fortunatus Hueber's
Saints' books,
"Stammenbuch..." (1693)

Helias was a Scotsman.who presided over the monasteries of Saint Pantaleon and Saint Martin in Cologne. He died April 12, 1042. Trithemius* and  many martyrologies list him as "Saint Helias". Others give him the title "blessed" or at least call him a "fine servant of God." The Bollandists* do not mention him as a saint. He does not seem to have been publicly venerated. (II. 65)
