Saints celebrated on the 3rd of May
Jeronimo Martel (Hieronymus) is listed in Marchese's "Dominican Saints' Diary."*
Born in Granada in 1540, he travelled to Peru as a youth, where he entered the Dominican Order at the Convent in Cuzco. He lived in all sanctity. Prayer, preaching and pastoral care of the native faithful was his daily, but also his only occupation.
He died, aged 70, at Azos, just as he was about to go to prepare himself for death by at the lonely monastery of Arechipa. He passed away in A.D. 1610. When they wanted to transfer his body from the provisional burial place to the permanent resting place prepared for him, it was found completely incorrupt. (March. III. 63)
