ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN APRIL
Saints celebrated on the 8th of April
John of Capraria (Johannes a Capraria), a Franciscan lay brother, came from noble parents in Alcantara (Norba Caesarea). His upbringing did not teach him physical work, but he learned to perform all the menial tasks in order to be accepted as a lay brother. After taking his vows, he became a veritable paragon of virtue. Hub. Men.* states that John died in Valverde (Vallis viridis) in 1575. Immediately after his death, the faithful began to venerate John as a saint. (I. 740) Joanna of Portugal attributed her recovery to his intercession.
