MARIA ANTONIA SIGMUND, VIRGIN AND ABBESS

A page of one of Fortunatus Hueber's
Saints' books,
"Stammenbuch..." (1693)

Maria Antonia Sigmund, of Brixen, made her profession on April 18, 1656 at the Poor Clare convent in her native town. She was elected abbess because, by her virtuous and self-sacrificing life, she provided a splendid example of virtue to the nuns. She went to her eternal reward on December 28, 1712. (J.M.R.)
