On Good Friday 1560, Pierre Cosette (Coset) (Petrus), a holy Franciscan, was preaching on the suffering of Jesus to the assembled crowd at Barbesteux in the Saintonge. During his sermon, this unarmed priest was shot by riotous heretics.
