SAINT ARTEMON, BISHOP

Artemon is a Greek name, meaning sail, fore sail (top sail). 

Saint Artemon was a native of Seleucia in Pisidia and is said to have been consecrated bishop by Saint Paul the apostle during his stay in this city (Acts 13:4). Bishop Artemon was a special friend and protector of the poor. He died at a ripe old age.
