VINCENZO DANDINI, RELIGIOUS

Born in Florence, Vincenzo Dandini (Vincentius), in his 34th year,  entered the Society of Jesus as a lay brother. Having practiced all the virtues from a tender age, he now became, as all who came into contact with him testified, a veritable saint.

In the world he had pursued the art of painting and continued it in the monastery. In his biography (Hausherr, Sanctified Handwork, p. 219 ff.) he is therefore called the "Angelic painter."

He passed away on January 11, 1734, after almost four years of severe suffering, which he endured with great patience. His dead body became brilliantly white as a lily, and his spiritual father, to whom he used to communicate all matters of conscience, exclaimed after his death: "O what an exalted place he occupies in heaven! I will read the prescribed Masses for him, but I am convinced that he no longer needs them; I know what heroic acts of virtue this brother practiced."

The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to me; it will be converted, and a certain period of peace will be granted to the world. THE AUGUST 13 EVENTS On August 13, the children were in jail at Ourem. The civil administrator threatened to boil them in oil if they did not tell the Lady’s secret. Though badly frightened, they could not think of disobeying our Lady. In disgust, the administrator finally freed them. A large number of people, not knowing that the children had been kidnapped, went to the Cova for the scheduled appearance of the Lady. At noon, there was a loud clap of thunder.
