BLESSED EUSEBIUS, RELIGIOUS
Blessed Eusebius was formerly an envoy of the King of Spain to the Republic of Venice and enjoyed a comfortable position in every respect. All of a sudden, upon admonition from on high, he entered the Order of Camaldoli at the monastery of Saint Michael on the island of Murano.
In A.D. 1501, Blessed Eusebius died with the reputation of great holiness.
All the martyrologists, without exception, list Eusebius among the blessed; the Bollandists* are uncertain whether they are basing this on an ecclesiastical decree of beatification. According to Lechner*, Eusebius was a Venetian ambassador to Spain and died in 1509. (II. 379)
