BLESSED EUPHEMIA, ABBESS
Blessed Euphemia was the daughter of Count Berthold of Andechs and his wife Sophia, and a sister of Blessed Mechtildis of Dießen.
She entered the monastery that Saint Alto had founded in Altomünster (in the district of Upper Bavaria). Following the death of the abbess Euphemia was chosen to be her successor. This appointment was due to her eminent virtues.
She died in A.D. 1180 with a reputation for holiness. She received her resting place in the family crypt in Dießen at the side of her blessed sister Mechtildis . (III. 470.)
