EUNICE, MOTHER OF SAINT TIMOTHY
On March 11, we also remember Eunice, the mother of Saint Timothy (Timotheus). She was a Jewess by birth, but married a Gentile man, probably in the city of Lystra in Lycaonia. She soon converted to Christianity, and also gave her son Timothy, who later became a student of the apostle Saint Paul, a pious upbringing, which is why Eunice was praised by the apostle, along with Lois, the grandmother of Saint Timothy (2 Timothy 1:5). Nothing else is known about her. (II.53)
