SAINT BABYLAS AND COMPANIONS, MARTYRS
According to the Greek Meneae*, a certain Saint Babylas (commemorated on September 4), who was a bishop of Antioch in Syria, was martyred with 84 boys, who were his pupils. They suffered in the area of Nicomedia during the reign of Emperor Maximinian. However, according to Baronius*, with whom the Bollandists* agree, this holy martyr is identical with this Saint Babylas (January 24).
