Saints celebrated on the 15th of May
WELCOME!
SAINT EREMBERT, BISHOP OF TOULOUSE
Saint Erembert (Erembertus) was born in the district of Poissy (Pinciacum), and as a very young man received the habit of the monastery of Fontenelle from the hands of Saint Vandregisil.
Some time later, King Clotair III called him from the monastic solitude for him to become bishop of Toulouse. Erembert fulfilled his episcopal duties with zeal, and even performed miracles.
Once, while visiting his brother Gamardus, a strong wind broke out and threatened to destroy the whole place. Erembert rushed to the Basilica of Saint Saturninus to pray for help from heaven. Afterwards he arose and stretched his shepherd's staff against the wind, and behold, suddenly the wind turned and subsided. With tears of joy, everyone praised the Lord.
At length, physical frailty forced Erembert to resign his episcopal office, whereupon he happily ended his life at Fontenelle in A.D. 671. At the time of Erembert's passing, Abbot Lambert was in charge there. (III. 389)
Saint Erembert is also remembered on April 30.
