SAINT EUCHARIUS, BISHOP OF MAASTRICHT
The name Eucharius is derived from the Greek, meaning pleasant; grateful.
This Saint Eucharius was the 19th bishop of Maastricht, today's capital of the Dutch province of Limburg, and died around the year 538, according to one chronograph. Other authors suggest that Eucharius' death occurred few years earlier. He is also called Bishop of Tongeren. (III. 681)
[Bishop Eucharius was preceded by Bishop Falco, whose predecessor was Eucherius and, before that, Quirillus held the episcopal office.]
