SAINT EUDOCIA, MARTYR
Eudocia was born in the East of Roman parents. She got into Persian captivity. Well instructed in the sacred sciences, she had a beneficial effect on her fellow prisoners, and led not a few of the female sex to the knowledge of the true God. For this she was beaten with rods, and meanwhile put in the dungeon, dragged out half-dead after repeated unspeakable tortures, and finally beheaded. (I. 328)
