This holy man, known as "Eudocimus the Younger" and "Eudocimus the Just", lived in the first half of the ninth century. He was commander of an army in Cappadocia under Emperor Theophilus. Distinguished by moral purity as well as by mercy to the poor, he lovingly cared for widows and orphans. He died young in years, and his grave was glorified by miracles. (VII. 308)
