Saints celebrated on the 23rd of May
SAINT EUPHROSYNA OF POLOTSK, VIRGIN
Saint Euphrosyna was the daughter of the voivode Vseslaus of Polotsk. She took the religious habit without the knowledge of her parents, and supported herself at the cathedral there with her hands, especially with copying books. She also built a kitchen with a monastery outside the city, made a journey to Jerusalem and died there in A.D. 1173.
However, this short biography is somewhat called into question by asking whether the Christian religion was already in such bloom at Polotsk at that time and indeed, whether the city even had a cathedral then. (V. 234)
