SAINT NICOPHORUS AND COMPANIONS, MARTYRS


Today, we also commemorate the martyrs Nicophorus, Diodorus (Dioscurus), Papias, Maccaris (Macarius), Tella (Tellas), Felix, Cajus, Enuclus, Januarius, Quinquianus, Mansuetus, Hermes, Betha (Zethas), Donatus, Servilia (Servilianus), Veneria, Basilia, Januaria, Stercola, Silvana, Maninlia (Marnintia), and Rufunia. According to the Greek records, the three first-named (Tan. II. 1024) suffered martyrdom at Corinth, and were joined by the three companions Victorinus, Victor, Claudius and Serapion. Canisius* states that Nicophorus died in Rome during the reign of Diocletian. They are not listed in the Roman Martyrology*.
These holy martyrs are also commemorated on January 30. (III. 724)

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
