SAINT CENSURINUS AND COMPANIONS, MARTYRS
(S.S. Censurinus et Soc. MM.)
Saint Censurinus (a prefect), Cyriacus or Quiriacus (a bishop), Maximus (a priest), Archelaus (a deacon), Aurea (a woman); then the soldiers Felix, Maximus, Taurinus, Errulanus (Herculanus), Venerius, Storocinus, Mennas, Commodus, Hermes, Maurus, Eusebius, Rusticus, Monachius, Amandinus, Olippius, Cyprius, and the tribune Theodorus suffered martyrdom together at Ostia on the Tiber. The names of Saints Quiriacus, Maximus, and Archelaus are listed in the Roman Martyrology* on August 23; the other martyrs are referred to as "companions" without being mentioned by name.
