SAINT EUTROPIUS, BISHOP OF HADRIANOPOLIS
Saint Eutropius, bishop of Hadrianopolis in Thrace and ancestor of Saint Lucius there was dispatched to Gaul. The mission entailed firstly, to preach the gospel to the heathen, and secondly, to defend the pure doctrine against the Arians. But the latter brought it about that he was sent into exile, where he died a faithful professor of the divinity of Jesus. (But. III. 13)
