Saints celebrated on the 1st of May
SAINT EVERMAR, MARTYR
A Frisian by birth, Saint Evermar (Evermarus) was of noble lineage. The desire to work and suffer for the glory of God drove him to the Tongeren region.
Around A.D. 700, a certain Hacco attacked and killed Evermar and his companions. Pipin's court officials then buried these holy martyrs.
On heavenly inspiration, however, Bishop Euraelius of Liège asked the priest Ruzelinus to raise Evermar's mortal remains. They were thereupon interred at Saint Martin's Church. This translation took place around A.D. 969.
In the 11th century, a church was built for him, and countless miracles happened at his grave. (I. 120)
