SAINTS EUTYCHIUS AND GENTIAN, MARTYRS
Saints Eutychius and Gentian (Gentianus) were martyred in Spain. The name of the first is also listed in the Roman Martyrology*. Migne* relates that this Saint Eutychius (French St-Eutyche or St-Toy) was the patron of a priory dependent on Seauve (Salvia), a Benedictine abbey founded in 1020 in the diocese of Nismes in Languedoc. In Merida (Spain) he is known and venerated as Saint Oye. (El., Mg.)
