BLESSED OTHO, COUNT OF RIEDENBURG, RELIGIOUS
Blessed Otho, also called "Minor," Count of Riedenburg and patron of the city of Regensburg (Ratisbon) was a religious of the Cistercian monastery in Walderbach. To this institute he donated all his wealth.
The last count of this family line, he strove for extreme poverty with contempt for all earthly things. It is said of him that - as he despised attachment to goods and comforts - he never washed or changed the only item of clothing he wore at all times (Rader. II. 252).

PRAYER:
Grant, we beseech you, almighty God, that the venerable feast of the blessed Otho may increase our devotion and promote our salvation. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
