SAINT OTTO, PRIEST AND MARTYR
Saint Otto (Otho), of the Order of Saint Francis of Assisi, who was martyred in Mauritania, was a companion of Saint Berardus (II. 62-71).
[By the way, the name Otto does not mean "the rich man" as some sources suggest, but "guardian." Odo is the original spelling of this name; the variants Oddo, Otho, Otto, Hoto, Utto, Utho are also common.]

PRAYER:
Grant, we beseech you, almighty God, that the venerable feast of Saint Otto may increase our devotion and promote our salvation. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
