WELCOME!

PAUL CONSIGLIERI, THEATINE

Paul Consiglieri, also Ghisiglieri (Paolo Consiglieri), a pious monk of the Theatine Order and its co-founder, whom Pope Paul IV appointed Canonicus in the Vatican, died on April 14, 1556.

Initially members of a brotherhood called "Of Divine Love" which held their meetings at the Oratory of Saint Dorothy in Trastevere, they made the decision to renounce the world altogether. On the day of the Exaltation of the Cross in 1524, they solemnly renounced all dignities and offices and, having received Holy Communion, pronounced their holy vows at Saint Peter's Altar in the Vatican in presence of Bishop John Baptist Bonziani of Caserta (II. 475).
