Saints celebrated on the 24th of July
ASUERUS, ABBOT OF PRÜM
Asuerus [Assuerus], remembered on July 24, was an abbot of the Benedictine monastery of Prüm (Prumia) in Trier. It was founded in 720 by Berta (Bertrada), the wife of King Pipin. Asuerus was related to the Pipin clan. He presided over his monastery for 45 years and died in 829. [Prüm's very first abbot was called Angloardus.] (Buc. Sppl.)
