SAINT PAPHNUTIUS AND COMPANIONS, MARTYRS OF ELVIRA

Saint Paphnutius was a disciple of the godly Bishop Hesychius. Along with his holy teacher, Paphnutius was killed for his Christian faith in Elvira in Spain. Their companions in martyrdom were Turulus, Maronius and Sextulus. The Bollandists* list these courageous martyrs among the Praetermissi.

PRAYER:

Grant, we beseech you, almighty God, that the venerable feast of Saints Paphnutius, Hesychius, Turulus, Maronius and Sextulus may increase our devotion and promote our salvation. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
