Saints celebrated on the 23rd of October
SAINT TURGOT, BISHOP OF ST ANDREWS
Saint Turgot (Turgotus) Bishop of St Andrews, is mentioned in the Elenchus*. A spiritual director to Saint Margaret of Scotland, Turgot wrote her biography. In 1093, he and Bishop William de St-Calais laid the foundation stone for what would later become Durham Cathedral. This holy bishop went to his eternal reward on August 31, 1115. His last words were from Psalm 76 "His dwelling is in peace and his habitation in Sion." He was buried in the chapter house of Durham.
