VENERABLE BENNO, BISHOP OF HAMBURG

Venerable Benno, (October 18) - also called Benedict - originally a monk in Hamburg, became bishop of this city, the successor of Saint Reginbert, a zealous preacher of the Gospel in the country of the Wends (Wandalorum). He is referred to as the fifth apostle of the same. - Benno went to his eternal reward in 1190.
